Once that’s confirmed, we install a dedicated circuit to the charge point, with appropriate protection, and commission the unit so it’s working correctly before we leave. Because it involves a new circuit, EV charger installation is notifiable work under Part P of the Building Regulations, and we handle the certification this requires.
Grants and Funding, Honestly Explained
It’s worth knowing upfront that the previous EV Chargepoint Grant for homeowners with a driveway closed back in 2022. As things currently stand, the grant remains available for renters, leaseholders in flats, and landlords installing charge points for tenants (landlords can claim for a limited number of installations per year), and separately for businesses through the Workplace Charging Scheme. If you own and live in a standard house, you’re unlikely to be eligible for a grant on your own installation, and we’d rather tell you that clearly upfront than let you assume funding will be available when it comes to paying the invoice. Where a job is grant-eligible, using an approved installer is a condition of the funding, and we’re happy to talk through what that involves.
